February 28th, 2014 our brand new CSGO team arrived at the Oktoberhallen in Wieze, Belgium and made themselves as much as possible comfortable with the physical and the virtual to-be battlefield in the Oktoberhallen. Being a new team and a just a few months existing organization, we weren't seen as a major competitor (yet), so it made us anxious to start and curious to watch how our competitors would react on us.

Our new CSGO team's first matches

After lots of delay our CSGO team met their first opponent. Victory, a team that showed not to be a threat to our boys, was defeated. The game finished with a clear and simple score: 16-01. Next in line was team Hashtag. Also this opponent couldn't get any momentum during the game. With an astounding performance by "Imprezz", the game ended 16-04.

Tricky technique

Unfortunately, a frustrating course of events influenced the game versus Evolution-Gamerz. Our boys started the game off with a devastating 9-0 head start, but then the servers crashed. When the game resumed we ended the first half with a score of 13-02 in favor of our CSGO team. Another technical issue occurred and we faced a two-hour delay at that moment.  Now Evolution-Gamerz was able to take advantage of our confusion and frustration, and took the game to a 15-15 draw.

Lower Bracket

Being obliged to continue in the lower bracket, CSGO faced Vndco in the second round. Our boys had some unfinished business with this opponent since they lost earlier today in their pool their first match. Our CSGO boys had their revenge and won with a score of 16-06. Next opponent in line was CHRONiC from Belgium. With high spirits and a goal in mind the boys took that game home with a score of 16-10.

Technics fails again

But again technical problems were a serious and unwanted distraction for our young team. After hours and hours of frustration, our CSGO team faced Antwerp Aces, one of the favorites at this tournament. Again some more problems surfaced on behalf of the entire organization of Frag-o-Matic and our boys lost their momentum, resulting in a clear loss.

We’ll be back …

The final result? Being ranked as nr 8, with a total of 44 teams is not too bad, but a bit less than expected. Our CSGO team learned a lot however about functioning and battling in - let's say this in a friendly way - less ideal circumstances. They will evaluate it and use this valuable experience to develop the CSGO team into a serious competitor in the Benelux Gaming-scene.

This very year!
